Here's a copy of the approved date of allocation of Chalet 2D1N stay.
Initially I booked for 3D2N, but others requested it to be just 2D1N. So, I wrote in to request for the change, and it got approved ;D

Meter reading is recorded at time of check in / out. The rental rates includes aircon usage of up to a maximum of 30 units (~$7.50 per day). Consumption beyond this amount is charged at $0.25 per unit of consumption. Excess usage amount is payable upon checking out by CASH only.

The overall percentage for everyone is more than 50% and all of you will go to 3 Express smoothly next year! Hurray! =) I am extremely glad when I saw your overall results. Mr Tan called me immediately when he received the good news via sms. He even asked for two names in particular. He was overjoyed when he learnt all of you will promote to 3 Express.

I think I shall not represent Mr Tan. The following are what I want to say to you all.

For those who have worked hard and achieved good results, "Well done! Keep it up!"

For those who have not but decided to buck up, "Good, work hard for your goal!"

Despite that you are the well-known noisy class for sec 2 level,
Despite that some of you created problems for us almost every other day,
Despite that some of you did make me upset sometimes (exclude Mr Tan because he is always full of hope in you all),
Despite that some of you seemed not appreciative,
Despite that teachers do complain about you,
I am glad that I am with with you since day 4 of January 2007 and wish that all of you will be more mature and serious in your studies next year and EXCEL in 2009 O levels!

When we thought we couldn't pulled it off, WE actually did. As a whole class, we shouldered everything together and are now rejoicing on the outcome. *applauds everyone. Farhan as leader lead us well. The emancipation during the 2hours event, was exhilarating with the sun scorching above us. And we tell ourselves, we're doing this for charity. This may sound rather ironic, but it was actually the first time I see the boys worked together, with toil and perserverance to accomplish the task. No denys, they did a splendid job and made a great deal out of it.

For the indoor stall, over at the canteen, they[the rest of the class] also did a great job. The chocolate chip muffins were delicious. YUMMY! I regret buying one. =.= Should have bought more!! Shall make special orders from Amanda for myself. Hahaha. And Diyanah's corn pudding was also selling well. It was super delicious. Tried the sample. And I totally regret NOT BUYING AT ALL!! grr.

My job was to go around and look for victims. Unfortunately, most of them were either too busy or too engrossed with the other class that they neglected my presence and shun me off. But it's okay, I'm used to it. (: I'm used to the ostracising. Some lied and claim that they walk to school. haha. Well, it's for charity. And they have to be sincere about it right. SO....it's okay. They boys washed, the OM, Mr Tan, Ms Selena, Mr Ong, Ms Liu, Mr Koh, The vendor auntie, and Ms Sng's car. WE GOT $88 FOR ALL THE 8 CARS! woohoo!! Unfortunately there is no picture of the car that has been washed. Cause, they seriously look effing cleaned. Spotless and shiny. Waxed even. Bravo everyone.

I was really appalled of what happened today. Like I said, this is so unlikely of you guys. But, I'm really glad everything went well. Good Job everyone.[once again]

2E1, seriously, we're left with very very little time now.
Please buck up on whatever subject needed & treasure each other's company while we can.

Today is Week 9 Day 1. 2E1 is supposed to spruce up classroom doors with theme "Kindness is always in season".

Two students approached me seeking for permission to go toilet. I gave them permission. However, another student approached me seeking permission to go around the school to do things related to CCA. I did not agree initially because RISE lesson is not time to do miscellaneous stuff. Definitely it is not CCA time. Two of them were upset when they were not allowed to do so. As usual, they behaved like little boys who only want to get their way. I told one of them that they were given 3o minutes to complete their things and happily, they went off.

Mr Tan conducted student-teacher conference with few students, one at a time.

Farhan and his group came out with good ideas related to kindness. Farhan tried his best to explain to the class despite that he faced the whiteboard most of the time. He assigned door #1 (front right door) to first two columns of students (nearest to the corridor), door #2 (front left door) to next two columns of students, door #3 (back right door) to middle two columns of students and door #4 (back left door) to last two columns of students (just in front of teacher's table).

When Farhan told the class to start, only some students started to do. Some of them fooled around; one Malay boy was seen hugging another. I stopped them and asked them to sit on the floor besides me to help me. Then I started to write some notes on birthday cards bought for the July birthday boys and girls. As I wrote, I looked around the class. I saw some students sitting on the floor, some occupied near the door, some busy designing, etc. However, I spotted some students doing Art! I stopped them. However, they did not show respect and ignored me. Then some girls caught doing Art but I managed to stop them. I tried to get students to do something whenever they were found not contributing.

Then, one student said, "You are racist!" The student meant that I was being racist for punishing two Malay boys. I was upset when I heard that. I immediately released them to let them joined their group. And I observed that two of them did contribute as well as fool around.

Then I was upset when one of the two students who went out to do CCA things came back and idled. I helped him to be responsible to complete his CCA tasks whereby the deadline is today. But he came back and behaved irresponsibly by idling around. Of course, he is not the only students who behaved irresponsibly. I feel more upset because he proved to me that being nice to a student is being foolish..

However, I am glad to see some students behaving responsibly from the beginning to the end. One of them talked to me online seeking for opinion to be more mature. I am glad that he is behaving more and more mature. Keep it up!
I am glad that Mr Tan joined in the 2E1 family and helps my voice to be less strained. He is so enthusiastic about 2E1 and so willing to help 2E1 to grow and excel.

Today is Week 9 Day 1.

For those who feel that I am racist, you just have to tolerate me for 24 days before your final year exam.

For those who feel that ms ng could be taken for granted, you only have another 24 days.

For those who choose to behave immaturely like little boys and girls despite nagging, scolding, etc, I just have to tolerate you for another 24 days before your final year exam.

For those who treat 2E1 like a rubbish dump and throw on the floor as you wish, you only have another 24 days.

For those who would like to grow and excel, Mr Tan and I would be most willing to do our best to help you to achieve your targets within these 24 days.

Empathy - reflection on RISE on 16Jul

Lately, I saw news about a group of Presbyterian High School student volunteers helping in the construction of homes for the lepers. This is a project initiated by the Habitat for Humanity. During the interviews, some students said they were not afraid of the lepers but they were cautioned not to touch the open wounds. One of them even said that these people are very pitiful because they contracted such disease and were forsaken by their family...

How will we treat the lepers? Will we be indifferent towards them? Or will we treat them as per normal like the intertwined twins? Perhaps this is too far fetched for most of us unless one of our family members happen to the the unfortunate one.. What do you think?

First, I started this blog far back in Feb for the sole purpose of RISE reflection but no contribution from everyone in the class. I take it as that you all do not like to post your RISE reflections here.. positively. Or maybe I fail to give you all the correct username and password.

Next, Mr Tan joined 2E1. We managed to "revive" this blog by posting pictures taken during your SPRUCE UP and interesting post by Mr Tan.

Then, Claudia offered to change the template of this blog. It was a nice surprise because she took initiative to make the blog look better and put a tag board there.

As I was thinking that 2E1 is getting closer to "2E1, United we stand", I was sad to see that some people in 2E1 behaved immaturely and started a war using the tag board!

I remembered that I said "2E1, you are hopeless" during your exam. But I never give up on you. Neither do I ignore you for being hopeless. Do some of you really want me to believe that you are hopeless and give up on you????

2E1, please grow up! Be mature. Forgive and forgive, and continue to strive for excellence.

From this moment onwards, only Claudia is allowed to make changes to the 2E1 RISE blog tentatively.

hey ppl....i know that some of us irritate you guys but have you ppl ever thought that mayb you irritate ppl too? you say things that really hurt ppl and damage their pride. i'm was really really hapy to see all of us work together as a team to do up the class(: you all design empathy, putting yourself in someones elses shoes. but are you now? if almost the whole class was to turn against you, behaving like nothing but gossiping about you. would u like it? you know that its not a nice thing to be in that position but still discriminate someone else? My first form class

I wondered to myself whether I wanted to regard this blog as a personal account of my feelings, or whether I should use it as an avenue to address all of you, my most beloved students. It matters because, then the pronouns that I use would be them, and I and me, but in the case of the latter it would have to be you and us.

After much thought, I have decided to make the best of it by using both forms. I am actually beginning to wonder if you all understand any of the words I have been typing.

My entire experience with all of you so far, has been categorized by flashes of mixed feelings. I was very glad to have discovered that you were going to be my form class, but at the same time I was disappointed to know that you havent been s exceptional and amazing as I thought you would be.

I always believed that you would be the best class in every aspect possible, both academically and in every other aspect in being a student or a class as a whole. Which is why it disappoints me to know of the atrocities that have been committed.

But I convinced myself that it would not be fair to you, if I judged you on hearsay or something that I didnt witness or experience for myself. Hence, the impression I had of you remained. And I was glad it did, because today when i saw the work you all put in towards the spruce up, it heartens me.

It was a day full of teamwork and cooperation. A day when everyone played an integral part of making our classroom our own. It was day full of determination and vigour, but yet focused and driven. I really hope you are able to translate and transfer this spirit into everything that you all do, be it individually or as a class, then truly you would earn the right to be the best there is.

A note to all: Whatever differences you hve with one another, its time we put it all aside and direct our energy to whats more important. At the end of the day, if united we stand is our motto, you must know that all these differences will only divide us, and divided we will fall. So, I am appealing everyone to cast away anything bad about anyone else. If there are differences to reconcile, we will settle it and once settled, we will let it go because then it will be over. Then we will be mature, responsible and united.

Academically, whether we like it or not is our main responsibility. There is less than 5 months left and for some of us, we are going to need all the time we can get to bounce back. But do not be discouraged. There is ample time and you can do this. Trust me, its there, within your reach. You just need to put in the extra effort. Miss Ng and myself will be available to help you in anything we can help in. All you need to do is ask. But you must mke the first step.Now! Now is the time to put in everything you have into every single subject. Work hrd nd you will reap the benefits. Trust me.

Ok thats it for now. My apologies for the long post. Please feel free to comment my beloved 2E1. The best there was, the best there is and the best there ever will be.

Today, I was very upset with the class. Most of them behaved as if they had eaten some sweet stuff and became very hyper.

Then an incident happened after RISE lesson. I intended to keep all in the class to complete the reflections but now I had no choice but to clear the classroom. Then I shouted on top of my voice to drive the whole class out. At that instant, I was very very upset... One issue after another. It is never ending...

After talking for more than an hour to the parties involved, the matter was not resolved. Both claimed to be innocent parties. In fact, I think I am the most innocent party for being your form teacher... having to handle all these things. I think Mdm Ong will empathize with me..

Do I have to put on an angry/stern face whenever I face your class? This decision lies on your behaviours. What are your choices?

From first day of school till today, I don't have a chance to talk to all of you especially the more introverted ones. Being your form teacher, I believe that I have to take care of you and help you grow both academically and holistically. I also have a duty to ensure that all of you will become someone useful to society one day.

Yesterday, I was very surprised to know that the class strength became 39. One of you leaving... I took for granted I have at least many more weeks ahead to talk to you all including this person.

People walk in and out of another’s life in different stages of life. Cherish what you have now.

Last of all, Sahara, wishing you all the best wherever you go. Smile and be happy always ^_^

ABC (Grateful Ms Ng)

Locus of control. Most of the students don't really understand its meaning. But ABC will be clearer I guess.
A=Actions,
B=Belief and
C=Consequences.

This morning, my class girl called me after flag rising. I was surprised because she is one of those girls does not approach me at all. But I stopped and looked at her. She was not smiling and put on her usual "What do you want?" look. In that split second, I responded in my normal tone, "Yes?” Then she said something like, "You did not button one of your buttons." I looked down and was shocked to find that one of my buttons was detached from my blouse. It is a new blouse! Where I can find another blouse to change into? I was so shocked that I forgot to thank her. After that, I saw another girl lending safety pin to her friend. This girl is bubbly and always wears a bright smile. When she knew that I needed a safety pin, she immediately lent me one. After that, I realized that this safety pin can't salvage the situation. Thank God, I cooled down and thought of a solution and got out of this embarrassing situation.

I believe that everyone should be treated equally and everyone is a new person everyday. Despite that this girl seems to be unfriendly and usually in her defence mode, I chose to respond normally. This belief system leads to the consequence (she told me her observation) and she becomes my "saviour" for the day. If I were to respond harshly, I doubt she will tell me her finding. And in her heart, she will feel hurt as her good intention can't be brought across if the teacher were not to trust her or give her a chance. Last of all, I am happy to see another side of her ^_^

Nowadays, teachers do not teach their relevant subject(s) only...Teachers also have to be loan sharks to "chase" after students for forms, reflections, etc. Besides that, teachers have to be data entry clerks to enter into the papers / excel sheets to ensure all students have submitted the forms, reflections, etc. Teachers also have to be entertainers to keep students happy so that they will feel happy and be willing to learn. Is that all? Nope, teachers have to be....

What about students? What are their roles?

Some of my form class students made me feel disappointed today. I asked them if they have done their assignment before leaving. All told me "yes". I spent nearly two hours sorting out the reflections, forms, etc to check who didn't hand in. Then I found out that some students lied without blinking their eyes. How could the price of integrity be so worthless?...

"Freedom comes with responsibility", this is what I told you. I warned you all that I will swap your seats if there are any complaints about you. However, from week 2 until today, I have received quite a number of complaints about 2E1... about you being noisy in class. I was disappointed that some of you abused this freedom of choice... After hearing so much about 2E1’s “unity”, I decided to change your seating arrangement today. However, the class was still in a mess after 30 minutes. Then I heard pleas from the gals. Seeing the mess, I decided to give the class the last chance. This time, you have to watch over each other and remind each other to be quiet in class. If I were to receive any complaints about you again, the first and second time will constitute verbal warnings and last complaint will result "wind blow wind!" regardless of whether you like or not. You have agreed and will sign a contract with me tomorrow. This is an informed decision I made to the class. I will tell the subject teachers about this contract that you have signed with me.

So what are the consequences? It will either be that you all cooperate and make 2E1 a better class and make the subject teachers change their opinion about you. Alternatively, you all me lose trust in you and let my ears suffer each time I see the subject teachers.

Finally, the consequence for breaching the contract is you will not get to seat with friends you like, so treasure this freedom of choice!
